Mt. Washington Pottery is led by creative force Beth Katz, a long time dweller of Southern California. Beth was born in the Topanga Canyon, but now resides in Los Angeles with her potters wheel and studio, where she makes each of the Mt. Washington pieces by hand. Beth's functional and decorative ceramic works perfectly marry the traditional Japanese, Wabi Sabi aesthetic with the "modernism of Scandenavian design."
After two long careers, Beth went to graduate school for Spiritual Psychology and emerged with the understanding that her longtime ceramics hobby could be more than just a hobby. Making pottery her primary focus, Beth realizes was the culmination of all her life choices that lead to a rather serendipitous participation in the new American Craft Movement.
