Pop Up: Ian J. Whitmore
We are currently hosting a pop up with 3 exciting brands. We wanted to introduce the brands you'll now find in our workshop area.
Ian J. Whitmore is a Portland-based photographer. He began documenting the music scene as a teenager in Nebraska, which led to a career in photography.
We are proud to have an exhibit of his Forty-Even Hundred Miles and the accompanying artist book; both of which capture his motorcycle journey from Chicago to LA to Portland. The black and white images contrast the vast landscape with the motorcycles and their riders, and eventually crowded city scenes. Each photograph feels like a meditation on change and movement as part of the book's forward explains:
"Any motorcycle rider will tell you that when you are approaching a transition, your understanding of movement and momentum is key. Rather than find ourselves drifting into an undesirable future, this ride helped us prepare to stay on course through our own twists and turns."
We are selling Whitmore's artist book, Forty-Seven Hundred Miles, and prints of the photographs are available on his website.
Stop by the shop to find see all the photographs in person and be sure to attend the opening party today on Friday, April 7th!
